In order to obtain Medicare rebates you must have a referral from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician along with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, most GP’s require a longer appointment to complete this.
Under the Australian Government’s Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative you are eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year (January 1st to December 31st) and where eligible you can access up to 10 group sessions per calendar year. Rebates are claimed by each client directly with Medicare.
