Stories We Tell is a project that aims to connect Indigenous peoples of Australia and Latin America through the sharing of their music. Through this universal language, music has the unique capacity to bring people of different cultures together. In this project music is the medium that enables a profound exchange of cultural identities, enhancing and strengthening their rich diversity while discovering stories that we have in common, the Stories We Tell.
Stories We Tell will be producing 3 fundraising concerts along with the making of a documentary film. Jaime Torres and Archie Roach will be collaborating in musical and cultural exchange. The documentary film is to be recorded from November 26 to December 13, 2015.
Concerts will be held in Sydney (28th Nov 2015), Melbourne (4th Dec 2015) and Perth (12th Dec 2015).
5-11 December 2015, there will be a visit to Broome, WA as part of a unique cultural exchange between local Australian Aboriginal artists and Latin American Indigenous artists. As part of this, there will be some Spiritual Health workshops led by Kalí Alfaro to embed the connection between people and the land. For more information about the workshops, contact Kalí.
